Friday July 9 at Luna

We made the drive back over to Luna in Lake Charles. Surprisingly enough, there was no rain on the road to Louisiana, which was nice. Lately, Luna has changed its format to having music from 9 pm to midnight. That actually is a pretty good arrangement for us, as we typically drive back after the gig, so leaving at 12:45 am- 1 am is a much easier driveback than if we leave at around 3 am. Gig (soundman) does us right with the sound, and we usually get a bunch of miller high life's--which is awesome. The new set times does lend us a weird set-up. It is kind of like two different show. The dinner show and the later show. The first set (9 pm to 10:30 pm) was played mostly for the the late dinner people sitting at tables. Some people got up and danced, then they left (and I think they came back). This is an early time for a band to play, as a lot of people don't show up at bars until 10:30 or 11 pm. So, by the time the first set was over, a lot of the crowd was gone. Then we took a break. When we started up again for the second set at about 10:50 pm, there was a new crowd out there, and we played for them. Very nice.

The first set was mostly old songs, which was good to break out again. Underwatertown got a whole bunch of people up, and sounded real good. Varmint Poontang was another one that really rocked.

Second set was more of the newer stuff. Also good set. On the whole, we played pretty well, and had a good time. Not too hot. Some guy gave us $40 for one cd, which was awful nice of him. Then we packed up and drove back to Houston. We have been enjoying listening to this old mixed cd of Elton John on the drives back. In particular, we love the song "Take Me to the Pilot". I highly recommend that you go listen to it.
